Our maintenance contracts are flexible yet guarantee your compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements. We can provide a year-round call out service, should you need it. Our maintenance technicians are all highly trained and qualified giving you peace of mind while they’re on your premises.

When should my fire detection system be serviced?
Your fire risk assessment is a good place to start. If it has been done correctly (by a competent person), it will tell you how often you should service your fire detection system.
British Standard 5839 recommends that you adopt a maintenance schedule with intervals of no more than six months. However, in large complex buildings with high occupancy rates, checks may be advised more frequently. As long as you stick to what’s set out in your fire risk assessment (assuming it doesn’t contradict BS5839), you’ll be covered in the event of a fire.
In addition to a service visit by a qualified technician, you (or someone in your building) should test the system on a weekly basis. This will forewarn you of problems which may arise in between scheduled maintenance. And, most importantly, it will guarantee that your fire detection system will work in an emergency allowing people to safely evacuate.
Reducing false alarms
False alarms rarely occur when your system is maintained adequately. Systems which are overdue for servicing are more likely to develop faults, which in turn, can cause false alarms. For every false alarm, you run the risk of:
- Productivity decrease with staff out of the building during evacuations
- Customer service issues (if your business is customer-focused)
- Unnecessary use of fire fighters who may be needed elsewhere
- Penalties issued by fire service (in the form of financial fines)
- Insurance premiums going up
